Winner of 10 design awards, the smart and sophisticated Freedom chair by Humanscaleoffers weight-sensitive recline and synchronously adjustable armrests that set new standards for ergonomic comfort, all without the use of knobs, locks or levers! Combining ergonomic comfort with exceptional user-friendliness, once the backrest height, seat cushion positioning, and overall seated height are set up, no further manual adjustments are necessary.

The Freedom chair is available in a wide range of colors, fabrics, leathers and frame options. An optional headrest is also available.

Self-Adjusting Recline
The built-in, reclining mechanism provides the right amount of support throughout a full range of motion, regardless of your size or weight.

Dual Pivot Backrest
Extra motion provided by the backrest during recline automatically adjusts to the changing needs of your spine. Dynamic movement provides up to one inch of additional lumbar support when needed.

Contoured Cushions
The cushions are carefully sculpted to match your body's contours and increase contact area to reduce pressure points.

Adjustable Seat Height Control
A Pneumatic control raises or lowers the seat.

Gel Seat (Optional)
The gel seat provides outstanding shock absorption and distributes pressure evenly.

Position Sensitive Headrest (Optional)
Headrest moves into place when you recline and out of the way when you sit up.

The Freedom chair comes with Limited Lifetime Warranty of 5 years on High wear parts: Fabric/Cushions, Casters, Glides. Freedom comes with a Limited Lifetime warranty on all other parts.

Humanscale was founded in 1983 with a mission to develop high-performance ergonomic office tools that would solve functional problems as straightforwardly and gracefully as possible. Beginning with its first product — an anti-glare filter that improved the visibility of monochrome monitors in the early 1980s — the company has methodically designed some of the most innovative products in the industry. In the late 1990s, Humanscale made a significant mark with its introduction of high-performance articulating keyboard systems, offering effortless one-touch adjustability while eliminating the knee-clearance issues associated with competing solutions. Today, the company is still the leader in that product category.

In 1999, Humanscale turned heads in the contract furniture industry with the introduction of the Freedom chair, designed by ergonomics pioneer Niels Diffrient. Combining unprecedented functionality with minimal manual controls, the chair broke new ground by utilizing dynamic mechanisms that respond to the requirements of each individual user automatically. Since its introduction in 1999, Freedom has won 10 international design awards and has been featured in virtually every major design publication.

Building on the success of the Freedom chair, in 2004 Diffrient designed the Liberty chair, which featured a tri-panel configuration of non-stretch mesh that provides tailor-made lumbar support without external devices.
