Humanscale® Personal Zone Air Purifier

To improve indoor air quality, the Humanscale Personal Zone Air Purifier removes more than 99 percent of airborne particles of all sizes for the cleanest possible air with a silent, breeze-free and ozone-free operation. This is an important factor for the office, because the Environmental Protection Agency has identified indoor air quality as one of the top five most urgent environmental risks to public health. With patented technology, this purifier cleans air in such a targeted way that the size of the room becomes irrelevant, and no energy is wasted cleaning air in unoccupied spaces. To support environmental sustainability, this is the only air purifier to offer recyclable paper air filters that can either be vacuumed clean and reused or recycled with other paper products. It consumes just seven watts of energy and supports the trend toward green, healthy living. An original, ingenious design, the Personal Zone Air Purifier was part of an exhibition at MoMA, called Design and the Elastic Mind.

Humanscale® Personal Zone Air Purifier

The Personal Zone Air Purifier uses the most effective air purifying technology in the world. Originally developed in Sweden for industrial air cleaning applications, the Personal Zone Air Purifier's patented technology does what no other air purifier can do: surround the user in a bubble of ultra pure air — the 'clean air zone.'

The Humanscale Personal Zone Air Purifier's patented technology renders other air purifiers obsolete. Consuming just 23 watts of power, it utilizes a tightly coiled paper filter that offers far more surface area than any other air purifying technology, allowing it to more easily capture airborne contaminants. Plus, it operates in virtual silence, produces no ozone and creates no noticeable draft.

After approximately 6 months of use in a typical environment, the Personal Zone Air Purifier's paper filter can either be replaced or vacuumed clean for reuse. And when it's time for replacement, the filter can be easily recycled with other paper products.

Humanscale History

Humanscale

“If a design solves a functional problem as simply and elegantly as possible, it will not only have superior performance, but its aesthetic will be timeless as well.”
— Robert King, Humanscale Founder and CEO

Humanscale was founded in 1983 with a mission to develop high-performance ergonomic office tools that would solve functional problems as straightforwardly and gracefully as possible. Beginning with its first product — an anti-glare filter that improved the visibility of monochrome monitors in the early 1980s — the company has methodically designed some of the most innovative products in the industry. In the late 1990s, Humanscale made a significant mark with its introduction of high-performance articulating keyboard systems, offering effortless one-touch adjustability while eliminating the knee-clearance issues associated with competing solutions. Today, the company is still the leader in that product category.

In 1999, Humanscale turned heads in the contract furniture industry with the introduction of the Freedom chair, designed by ergonomics pioneer Niels Diffrient. Combining unprecedented functionality with minimal manual controls, the chair broke new ground by utilizing dynamic mechanisms that respond to the requirements of each individual user automatically. Since its introduction in 1999, Freedom has won 10 international design awards and has been featured in virtually every major design publication.

Building on the success of the Freedom chair, in 2004 Diffrient designed the Liberty chair, which featured a tri-panel configuration of non-stretch mesh that provides tailor-made lumbar support without external devices.

In addition to task and office seating, Humanscale’s award-winning product line includes articulating keyboard supports, adjustable monitor arms, task lighting, CPU holders, laptop holders, foot rests and ergonomic mice. Headquartered in New York City with distribution worldwide, Humanscale is a leader in ergonomic design and is committed to environmental sustainability for all its products.
